2026-2027 Maximum Rent Increases
The Apartment Association California Southern Cities has published the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures used to calculate the maximum allowable rent increases under California’s statewide rent control law the Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (AB 1482) for the period beginning August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027.These limits apply to many units across the state unless exempt under the law.
The chart below provides the updated CPI rates and corresponding maximum rent increases for key metropolitan areas, including Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, and the statewide average for regions not covered by a specific index.
