On July 11, 2022, the City Council unanimously approved an extension to the existing 90-day rent freeze approved on April 25, 2022 (Urgency Ordinance No. 922-U) by adopting Urgency Ordinance No. 924-U. Therefore, the temporary prohibition of rent increases for multi-family residential properties will continue until October 9, 2022 or until a permanent rent stabilization and tenant eviction protection Ordinance is adopted in Bell Gardens.  Single-family homes, condominiums and properties built after 1975 are exempt consistent with State law.
