As of January 1, 2022, California landlords are mandated to give a booklet titled "Information on Dampness and Mold for Renters in California" to potential tenants. The booklet is issued by the California Department of Public Health and is a part of the California Apartment Association's rental agreements. This requirement stems from legislation passed in 2001, known as SB 732 or the Toxic Mold Protection Act, which has only recently been implemented by the Department of Public Health.
